ABOUT
Nongov Kelvin
Video editor, documentary filmmaker and product storyteller. Lagos, Nigeria.
For over ten years I've made videos, documentaries, photography and motion graphics. Editing is the core of it: long-form podcasts and interviews, documentaries and explainers, for teams in the US, UK and Nigeria.
Editing and documentary work
- BetterWealth (US): 3 years as lead editor, then contract editor. 160+ long-form podcasts, interviews and Shorts on personal finance; several passed 30K views and a couple passed 100K, with 50%+ subscriber growth.
- Full post-production on “Peter Obi Is Not Who You Think He Is”, a 45-minute documentary for Jude Bela Studios with 300K+ views. The client came back for a second film.
- My own Vox / Johnny Harris-style documentary series (Gaddafi, Ibrahim Traore, Mandela, Fela Kuti), and NGO documentaries for JDPC Ibadan.
- Over 400 webinars produced for the Freelance Coalition for Developing Countries, giving creatives across Africa and beyond access to mentorship and opportunities.
- My #EndSARS documentary was screened at the Lekki Toll Gate by the Feminist Coalition during the protests.
- Work with Future Minds Development Initiative, We Talk Sound and Edokita, and a documentary on Rema's homecoming concert.
Building products, and telling their story
I understand products from the inside, because I build them. In 2026 I built and launched Gettomass, a free directory of Catholic Mass times in Nigeria, going from first version to launch in seven weeks. Then I crafted the launch story myself. It reached over 150,000 views across platforms in 48 hours, with zero ad spend. In its first week, 2,500 people visited the site and 374 of them sent in reports about their parish, while about 2,000 followed along on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. Read the case study.
Now I help startups show what their product does, why it matters and how to use it: launch films, explainers, onboarding and how-to videos, and the ongoing content that keeps people coming back.
Background
I founded Project Nkali, a multimedia platform for African stories told through film, photography and sound, and Nongov Media. My academic background is in Human Anatomy. I've travelled through all 36 states of Nigeria with a camera.
